Department Store Gift Ideas

Category : Gifts

Department stores are like a wonderland filled with so many different choices. With everything for sale from power tools to toys to bedding to clothing, department store shopping can almost be addictive. Lately, however, I have gotten where I hate going to the mall to shop at some of my favorite department stores.

Finding a parking place is always a hassle and many times the layout of the store is too confusing.

The changing rooms have gotten smaller and the aisles have become more crowded.

I often feel as if shopping in a department store is as exhausting as running a marathon. That is why I am ecstatic that most of the popular department stores are available online.

Department Stores Online

Most department stores online websites are easier to navigate than the actual stores. With one click of the mouse I can navigate between women’s clothing and shoes. Department store websites usually have a 360-degree view of the product and a listing of all the specs of the item I’m browsing. I can’t even find that in the stores. With free shipping deals and easy return policies, it just makes sense to shop online and save myself time and gas. I would much rather visit online department stores from the comfort of my own home.

Let’s face it, men and women both can often feel intimidated when shopping in some of the more upscale department stores. Shopping these stores online is much more relaxing. Many upscale department stores such as Lord & Taylor offer incentives to those who shop their department stores online. Promo codes are routinely offered at the top of their page, just before check out.

Aspinal of London is another upscale store that offers incentives to those who do their shopping online. Featuring popular styles seen in magazines such as Vogue, Bazaar, and Tatler, their website is easy to use and navigate. Aspinal is located in London, hence the name, and offers those of us who reside in the United States a chance to own a “bit of Britain.” In addition, they offer free express shipping on orders of $175 or more.

Department Store Coupons

Many other department stores accept their promotional department store coupons for purchases made online. Kohl’s not only accepts their coupons online and in their brick-and-mortar stores, they also accept the popular Kohl’s cash online.

Discount shopping has also taken advantage of Internet sales. Stores such as the Sears Outlet Center offer over 60% savings to online shoppers. Their outlet site also links to several other discount shopping sites such as Kmart, Land’s End, and that store beloved by men everywhere, Craftsman.

Department Store Gift Certificates

Department store gift ideas can include department store gift certificates to any of the popular department stores. Almost all department stores have an online website. In fact, shoppers who use department store websites often save up to 20% more than shoppers who visit the traditional brick-and-mortar stores. Besides free shipping and special Internet sales, there are often special clearance pages, similar to a clearance rack, where shoppers can take advantage of end-of-season specials.

Another good reason to shop online is because unlike a traditional department store, where the clearance rack only contains what wasn’t previously purchased in that particular store, Internet sites carry clearance items from their main warehouses. In other words, you, the shopper, are offered the opportunity to see every piece of merchandise a store carries, not just the merchandise the apparel shopper chose for your area’s store.

Don’t forget that each store featured on my site has been hand-picked by me for both the quality of their merchandise and for their value. In fact, I am often given notice of special sales, long before the public. You can find my special sales news on my Gift Ideas on Sale page. You will want to bookmark that page, because the sweet deals are constantly being updated.

So, avoid the mall and the hassle of parking, the tired arms you get from toting your shopping bags around, and the money spent on gas. Try shopping your favorite department stores from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Just think of how nice it will be to avoid the frenzied rush around the holidays. You can pick and choose, look, and discard without ever leaving your home.

So, pull up your chair, get comfortable, put on your most comfortable clothes, pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and try “shopping the mall” in a different way than you ever have before. I think you’ll enjoy yourself
